Paaaarty’s here! Watch out Jersey City. MTV’s “blast in a glass” is headed your way. The city gave the okay to shoot a Jersey Shore spin-off starring Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley.
A television blogger for NBC wonders if Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy realizes what he’s done.
“[D]oes Healy know what he's let himself in for? He put emphasis on how the ladies will have to obey the laws, which Snooki, who arrested for public drunkenness during ‘Shore's’ third season, hasn't always done”
The city stepped in after a major rejection. The Washington Post explains.
“Last week, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer refused to allow the show, featuring the ‘Jersey Shore’ stars, to film in Hoboken, citing ‘public safety and quality of life concerns’ for the city.”
A political blogger for The New York Daily News says Healy may be more familiar with “goin’ hard” than some might think.
“JERSEY CITY'S apparent mayor-elect, Jerramiah Healy, hid nothing from the electorate. The city councilman outpolled 10 other candidates in a special election Tuesday - despite a widely circulated photo of him drunk and naked on his front stoop.”
Healy did stipulate that the cast and have to follow the law while in Jersey City. Extra security will be provided to ensure that but a writer for StyleCaster wishes that weren’t the case.
“Seems a little contradictory since the fights that we see the girls get into on the show are what keep us tuned in every week.”
WNYW reports current residents don’t know how to feel about the guidettes coming to town.
“Jersey City residents we talked to weren’t exactly fist pumping over the news but said they’d be willing to give Snooki and Jwoww a chance.”
Anchors for WNBC said who needs Hobokin haters? Jersey City is the perfect fit.
“That’s a no brainer. As soon as we heard about Hobokin we said ‘What about Jersey City?’ Enter Jersey CIty.”
“Be careful what you wish for.”
Snooki and Jwoww aren’t the only Shore stars with a spinoff. Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio’s spinoff premiers on March 29.
