The cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore says “buongiorno” to Italia as the crew fist-pumps its way across the pond for its fourth season.
People Magazine says – judging by the season’s new trailer -- viewers can expect all the usual debauchery, European-style.
“From the looks of it, Snooki, The Situation, Pauly D, Vinny, Deena, Sammi, JWoww and Ronnie are in for the most dramatic season yet, as the roommates do what they do best: go clubbing, hook up and fight.”
But how well will these sort-of Italian-Americans adapt to traditional Italian culture? According to a blogger for the Wall Street Journal’s “Speakeasy” –
“Having grown up with wine at the dinner table, most Italians tend to drink in moderation … The prospect of hosting ... a group known for public displays of drunkenness, brawls and other forms of lewd behavior—is testing the limits of just how much ‘reality’ one country can take."
But while fans can expect the usual drunken brawling and bawling, there’s also going to be some of the most vicious brawls and a run-in between Snooki and the Italian police--literally. AceShowBiz has the clip –
Video of Snooki wrecking into Italian police in her car.
And even though it’s easy to find negative or exasperated responses to the orange cast and their antics, the trailer’s release follows a university poll that reveals Jersey Shore’s presence hasn’t hurt public perception of New Jersey.
A writer for Entertainment Weekly’s Popwatch says -- love ‘em or hate ‘em, they serve an entertainment need during an economic rut...
“...Jersey Shore arrived as an advertisement for an essentially bygone good-times era... It will be strange to see how the show works in Italy this season, since Italians have never forgotten how to party, per Berlusconi."
Looks like Snooki’s the one who was smushed this time. And fans won’t have to wait much longer. The show will make its debut on August 4 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
