She’s making headlines, and it’s not because the media might see a baby bump, an engagement, or even a possible rekindled relationship with Brad Pitt. Men’s Health has named Jennifer Aniston the Hottest Woman of All Time. Here’s the magazine’s explanation on why she took the prize.

“She rarely plays the airhead, and she seldom overplays a role: she's funny in a quiet, refreshingly human way. … Other sex symbols drift toward one-dimensionality, becoming flat icons in the process, but throughout her career Aniston has remained sexy, funny, and unmistakably real.

Men’s Health certainly has high praise for Jen, but what about other outlets? HollyScoop speculates about what makes Jen sexy.

“Could it be her effortless middle part? Her blonde highlights, that she hasn’t changed since she played Rachel on Friends? Or is it the way we cling to the tabloids to find out if Aniston’s uterus is or isn’t knocked up?”

A reporter at WJBK agrees with the latter -- saying men might like her more because she seems normal. “Normal” as in “a girl with relationship problems.”

“Jennifer Aniston? Why is it always the most beautiful women have the worst time holding on to relationships? She hasn’t had a boyfriend for more than a month!”

But a writer for Best Week Ever says it’s none of that. If anything, Jen’s ranking is a joke.

“I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think we can all beholden that this is incorrect … the masses have spoken, and they are NOT happy with the Aniston selection: You have got to be kidding. This woman is strange and barely good looking … ”

Aniston beat out some tough competition, considering this award includes all women, dead or alive. No. 2 is Raquel Welch  No. 3 Marilyn Monroe  No. 4 Britney Spears  and No. 5 Madonna.

Icon or not, a writer for Gather says Jen grabbed the title because she’s the modern version of glam.

“… maybe her topping icons like Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch has something to do with her being a big star in the Internet age -- guys can get more of a grasp on what Jen is like in real life by reading her interviews and seeing what she's been up to.”

And even when Jen wins a title like this, the Angelina Jolie comparisons abound. Check out The Daily Mail’s dramatic headline:

“Jennifer Aniston named Sexiest Woman of ALL Time beating out arch-nemesis Angelina Jolie”

Jolie placed No. 10 on the list. If you agree or disagree with the rankings, Men’s Health opened up its list to votes from the public on its website. A writer for Hollywood.com thinks the whole thing is a bit tacky -- and hypocritical.

“ …you can either vote for a woman be further down on the list (meaning you think she's hotter than Men's Health determined her to be), or you can vote that a woman be put up higher on the list (meaning you think she's less hot than Men's Health thinks she is).  As far as I'm concerned, this is a little distasteful -- especially when the magazine took such extensive time explaining how Jennifer Aniston's talent is what makes her hot, rather than her appearance.

But did Aniston vote for herself? When asked who she thought should be number one on the list … the actress said either Brigitte Bardot or Gloria Steinem.
