J.K. Rowling’s stepped out of the world of wizardry, and is writing a book geared toward adults in the muggle world. But that’s about all the author’s said.

“As you may have heard, I have a new book out later this year. Very different to Harry, although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much.”

It’s being hashtagged as RowlingReturns on Twitter.

Yes, it's true. Much like her hero Voldemort, JK Rowling will return after years. Greater & more powerful than ever before. #RowlingReturns”

The question is: what’s she writing about? Harry Potter’s all grown up. The popular series about his time at Hogwart’s is sitting on millions of shelves. But, Rowling’s said all along that she wasn’t going to stop writing.  This is what she told USA Today back in 2007.

"Of course I won't write anything as popular as this again. But I have truthfully known that since 1999, when the thing began to become a little bit insane. So I've had a good long time to know that, and I accept it."

Some think Rowling’s exploring new territory. The Guardian says it’s just another twist in the plot.

“Yesterday's (detail-free) announcement about her new book for adults gives a vital clue that she's been writing a crime novel. It has the fingerprints all over it of the hugely respected editor David Shelley … who comes from a background steeped in crime and thriller writing … [and will] be editing Rowling's new book.”

And while no one knows anything really, fans can’t seem to stop talking about the news - and when they can get their hands on the new book.

“You’ve grown up with Harry Potter - her new book won’t mean as much to you. At the same time, I would do anything to get this new book sooner.”

All fans have to hang onto is what Rowling’s posted on her official website. A yellow book with the words “The New Book” by JK Rowling written across the top. But before you log off, notice you can sign up to receive emails about her newest book at the bottom.
