Holy smokes, Tim Tebow won again. And what’s that you say? He’s being compared to Hall of Famer John Elway. What’s he have to say about Tebow?

“I’ve never seen anything close to this. And I’m not sure we’ll see anything like this again.”

But that’s what has people scratching their heads. Cause we may have seen this before. Take a look at Elway’s numbers through his first eight starts in the NFL.

“What is going on here? Interesting. Are those flip flopped? Look at this, Elway has more losses. Tebow has more passing yards than Elway.”

I know. Denver Post beat writer Woody Paige points out more similarities between Tebow and Elway.

“You and I have gone through this before, we saw a guy, and he doesn’t want us to refer to it, but we saw a guy that people kind of forget had a great arm but he had struggles and that’s why he had so many comebacks in his career...Elway, yes.”

Some people think this comparison is a way to justify Tebow as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

“I'm not saying that Tim Tebow is going to evolve into a two-time Super Bowl-winning, Hall of Fame quarterback. What I am saying is that declaring Tebow to be an NFL bust, which seems to be the prevailing sentiment right now, is premature, and that Elway would do well to remember his own horrendous start when publicly assessing his current quarterback.”

The Big Lead thinks the comparison is B-S.

“Different eras–any time you quote a “Player X” has a better passer rating than “Player Y from 30 years ago”, feel free to then proceed to slap yourself.”

Charming. But if Timmy continues to slap opponents, the haters may have to convert.
