It seems to be a case of “He said, she said,” as Dr. Conrad Murray’s trial over Michael Jackson’s death takes off. MSNBC has the latest details...
“Day four in the trial of Michael Jackson’s doctor... (FLASH) We’re expecting to hear some more damaging testimony -- this time from the paramedics who tried to revive the star. Richard Senneff has already testified that he felt what Murray told him about the day -- it just didn’t add up -- and that Murray never told him that Jackson was given propofol.”
Propofol is an anesthetic that the doctor says he did not give to Jackson himself. CNN demonstrates how the drug works.
REPORTER: “Watch this go and take a look at his eyes...”
DOCTOR: “Deep breath Vincent, doing great. You might feel a little burning. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...”
REPORTER: “His eyes are closed and what else are you looking for?”
DOCTOR: “We look up here... he’s stopped breathing. So this is watching his CO2 and he’s not breathing anymore and my wonderful machine is going to help him breathe.
REPORTER: “So take a look over here... all the breathing right now is taking place with this bag and this mask. From that medication he wouldn't be able to breathe on his own.”
So has any evidence surfaced proving Murray used propofol? One of Jackson’s security guards and the second person in the room -- Alberto Alvarez-- testified details that throw further suspect on Murray. ABC reports...
REPORTER: “A critical request prosecutors contend shows Dr. Murray’s guilt...”
ALVAREZ: “He reached over and grabbed a handful of vials and reached out to me and said, ‘Here, put these in a bag.’”
REPORTER: “Then Alvarez says Dr. Murray pointed to an IV bag and asked that it too be put away. Inside that bag was a bottle dripping a milky, white liquid with the appearance of propofol.”
And the accusations concerning propofol are not Murray’s only concern. There’s also the fact that it took 15 minutes for anyone to call the police. ITN News reports the significance of this according to paramedic Senneff.
“[Murray said] it just happened right when I called you...” (FLASH) It comes down to... if he called us right when we got the call -- I knew we got there very, very quickly -- it means that we’re going to be able to have a good chance of restarting the heart.”
Murray faces up to four years in prison and could lose his licence to practice medicine.
