GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain’s star is rising.
That much can’t really be argued as he grabs headlines for winning Republican polls, as Fox News reports.
“Winning the Florida straw poll, Herman Cain finds himself at the front of the pack for the nomination for the Republican Presidential elections.”
And from the way Politico is covering Cain, it seems like the Republican hopeful will challenge anyone and everyone who gets in his way.
The title of the article is “Herman Cain: 'I'm going after Romney' at debate”
And when asked how he’d do in a debate against President Barack Obama, Cain responds...
“It would almost be no contest.”
Talking to MSNBC, former GOP Chairman Michael Steele takes a different route, focusing on how Cain got to the where he is now.
“I think a couple things. One is he’s laid out a plan that people can sink their teeth into and agree or disagree, but at least it’s something rather bold and innovative.”
But not everyone agrees Cain’s popularity will continue. A writer for Rolling Stone recalls a cautionary tale for the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO.
“The fade from media prominence will happen to Cain as surely as it happened to Bachmann after her Ames straw poll victory.”
The real test could be Tuesday’s Republican debate, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Jay Bookman.
Bookman’s article argues the debate will show whether GOP rivals see Cain as a threat.
“...if Romney, Perry and Bachmann do perceive Cain as a legitimate threat to win the nomination, they’ll begin to question him and his policies directly... if they continue to treat Cain with kid gloves, preferring to direct their fire elsewhere, that will say a lot as well.”
