BY CHANCE SEALES
No socialists allowed! They say they’re looking at you, Mr. President. “I Want Your Money” is billing itself as the little conservative movie that could. Here’s a peek.
OBAMA: “I’ve been a little amused where people have been having these rallies. You would think they’d be saying, ‘Thank you.’”
HUCKABEE: “The problem with socialism is that sooner or later, you run out of other people’s money.”
REAGAN: “We could say they spend like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors because the sailors are spending their own money.”
The movie hits theaters right before Americans go to the ballot box. The film’s creator, Ray Griggs, calls it “an act of patriotism” on Fox News.
“What really inspired it was the $787 billion stimulus bill that Obama had passed when he got into office that really started the motivation, because I have kids and I was worried about the future that they’re going to have and the freedoms that I was given in this country.”
Clearly not geared toward the left, a writer for the Kansas City Star says the movie aims to steal voters from the center – in a sneaky way.
“…[M]ore important than the movie itself, I think, is its advertising campaign, which has been designed to look very much like a political ad…but which is actually a movie ad, and therefore immune to the regulations that govern…true political advertising.”
Advertisement or documentary – Big Hollywood says I Want Your Money is getting good reviews. At least from the group already in love with all things Republican.
“I Want Your Money does the near-impossible: it makes politics entertaining. … My favorite bit was counting how many times Hillary got to slap a womanizing Bill Clinton. There were many moments where the crowd of about 50 die-hard conservative Tea Party-types laughed out loud.”
A group not exactly LOLing—the left. A panelist on Fox Business says—at least ask some questions before starting a standing ovation.
“Do we even know who financed this movie? We’ve dummied down America. We expect people to go in and watch this creepy bobble head weirdo movie with some … (Hey, don’t trash bobble heads).”
Finally, a little side note about the so-called “Hollywood liberal elite.” Griggs tells The New York Times it’s real—but not above a paycheck.
“…[S]ome prospective crew members on his new documentary… said they would accept jobs on the condition that their names be left off the credits. Mr. Griggs suspects that a politically motivated makeup artist even tried to sabotage the movie by giving him a distinctly unflattering look.”
So what do you think of the movie? Cinema? Or slick politics? And will you see it?
