Hulk Hogan is allegedly suing his ex-wife Linda Bollea for defamation of character.
The Pro Wrestler claims his ex published false allegations in her new book ‘Wrestling the Hulk, My Life Against the Ropes’-- where she claims Hogan physically abused her.
Here’s what Bollea tells NBC’s Today Show.
“I was quiet, I was afraid to say anything. Had I said something the carpet would have been pulled from beneath his career. I don’t know what my kids would have done, they were little at the time. It’s scary, it’s a very scary position. You don’t know how far they’re going to go. One fight can escalate and turn into something...”
But is this just a case of he-said, she-said? Fox News discusses the issue with Geraldo Rivera.
“Is it defamation? I guess so, but how do you prove it’s not true. There’s only two witnesses, it’s a domestic situation and she did get an extraordinary settlement when they did agree to their divorce. She got 70% of all their assets.”
In the lawsuit-- Hulk also suing for a rumor Bollea added to in an interview with Matty P’s Radio Happy Hour-- where she insinuated that Hulk had a sexual encounter with fellow wrestler Brutus Beefcake.)
Lords of Pain quotes her telling the radio show...
“Wow, let me think about how to answer this so I don’t end up getting a lawsuit...A little bird told me, ‘Yes, they think they did.’”
The Bleacher Report says-- all this makes Boella look like she’s craving fame.
“There was absolutely no reason for her to continue to make these statements after having already published the book and settled their divorce. This looks like Linda's attempt to stay relevant since her claim to fame of being married to Hogan is no longer her free pass into the celebrity community.”
But a blogger for Prowrestling.net says--while Hulk has a right to file suit-- attorneys may not be able to make the defamation charges stick-- at least when it comes to the alleged affair.
“For what it's worth, Linda did not outright state that Hogan had an affair with Beefcake in the interview I heard. Rather, she danced around it by saying she heard the rumor, which might be enough to save her legally...”
Finally, a blogger for The Examiner makes this simple prediction:
“This case will most likely get uglier.”
Hulk is asking for jury trial.
