Peacocks, Pot, and plasma TV’s -- all accessories for an apparent party prison.
KSBI has the list of luxuries Mexican police found during a surprise sweep of an Acapulco jail.
“Cops who raided a prison in Acapulco, Mexico say they found two peacocks, 100 fighting chickens, 19 prostitutes, two sacks filled with weed, and they also found dozens of TVs, bottles of booze and knives.”
About 500 officers raided lenient lockup on Monday. An official explains to Sky News-- the plan was to transfer 60 inmates to a high security prison overnight.
“[The] spokesman ... said the search was part of a dawn raid on Monday but did not disclose how the women, birds and other objects found their way into the prison.”
While incarcerated with contraband, The Daily Mail notes the demeanor inside the jail matches the dwindling conditions of Acapulco.
“Cock fighting is a popular pastime in parts of Mexico. The resort city has been plagued by crime since last year when gangs began fighting for power after the arrest of Edgar Valdez Villarreal, also known as 'La Barbie'.”
This was a big bust, but it might not be the last -- other Mexican ‘carcels’ have even been criticized for allowing prisoners to make up their own rules. BBC reports...
“In July, prisoners in a jail in Sonora state were found to be running a lottery to raffle off a luxury cell they’d equipped with a fridge, DVD player and air conditioning.”
