Hilary Duff and her hubby, Mike Comrie, have separated.
Duff's rep has confirmed to multiple outlets that the pair has "mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation." (Via E!)
This is one of those rare surprise splits in the celebrity world. There had been no rumors that the two were in trouble, no trips alone nor red carpet appearances solo. (Via ABC / "Jimmy Kimmel Live")
In fact, just a week ago, Duff posted a picture of the two dressed up together on Instagram. And People Magazine quotes a "source close to Duff":
"There was no major incident. ... They really did drift apart. They have put effort and thought into this decision for a long time. They tried couples therapy, but in the end, they realized at this time, they work better as friends."
Thirty-three-year-old Comrie is a retired NHL player. He and 26-year-old Duff began dating in 2007 and wed in 2010, then in March 2012 welcomed their son and only child, Luca. (Via Warner Bros. / "Ellen")

Also in their separation statement, the pair said they're devoted to being good parents to Luca.
