BY CHANCE SEALES

In 2007, 15-year-old Jennifer Mee hit every major show to talk about her battle with hiccups.  50 a minute to be exact.  She was known as “Hiccup Girl.”  NBC’s Today Show looks back at one of her visits.

LAUER:  “Does it hurt?  Cause when I get hiccups sometimes it hurts.”
MEE:  “It hurts a lot.  There’s been points where I will say out of nowhere… And I’ll burst out crying.  Like right now, it hurts so bad.  You can probably tell that.”

Her hiccups stopped.  But it seems her real problems are just beginning. Tampa Bay station WFTS has the details.

“We’ve learned 19-year-old Jennifer Mee is a first-degree murder suspect.  She was arrested with two other people in St. Pete over the weekend.”
“Police say all three admitted to their involvement.  And all three now faces first-degree murder charges this morning.”

Another local station, WFLA explains how the crime allegedly went down.

“Police say Mee lured the victim to this home in St. Petersburg on Saturday where two other men robbed him and shot him.  Authorities identified the victim as 22-year-old Shannon Griffin.”
“Investigators say after Mee lured Griffin to the home, Rayford and Newton robbed him.  They say there was a struggle in which Griffin was shot and killed.  He died at the scene.”

Finally, Mee faces first-degree murder charges.  But The Toronto Star and WESH disagree on her likely punishment.

THE TORONOTO STAR:  “Each of them stands charged with a count of felony first-degree murder. That crime can be punished by death in Florida.”

WESH:  (But WESH says )“Mee has no prior criminal record, but could face life in prison if found guilty of luring Griffin into the home so he could be robbed.”
