She’s a Hawaiian diver, a model, and shark conservationist. And now, she’s a YouTube sensation -- after releasing video swimming alongside a Great White shark off the coast of Mexico. It figures — her name is Ocean Ramsey.

Ramsey released the footage for the HD camera company GoPro on Valentine's Day because she loves sharks. She's been swimming with them since she was 14 years old. So, what’s it feel like swimming along with a Great White? Just ask Ramsey...

“I dive with sharks on a regular basis, so nervous? Not so much. But excited? Pretty much every time.”

She says for her own safety, she can’t allow herself to get excited. As a free diver, she has to keep her heart rate low as to not upset the sharks. Oh, and that’s not all... Ramsey can stay underwater without oxygen for 5 minutes and 45 seconds.

Ramsey says thanks to Hollywood hits like Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws,” people mistake sharks for being too dangerous to approach.

“They’re actually cautious, cognitive and calculative. They’re misunderstood and they’re misconstrued as mindless, ravenous, man-eating machines and that’s not how they are.”

They’re also few and far between, California officially declared Great Whites endangered specifies where experts estimate only 339 remain in the Pacific Ocean. Great white sharks can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh as much as 5,000 pounds.
