Talk about a celebrity crush gone too far -
Richard Franco was charged Wednesday with felony stalking after he was caught in Halle Berry’s home for the third time. LA Times reported Berry’s description from her court filings.
“...all of a sudden I sensed someone behind me and turned to see the same intruder standing less than a foot behind me, staring at me through the glass kitchen door.”
But some may wonder, what goes through the mind of a stalker? According to ABC News...
“Stalkers are out to connect with an ideal that doesn’t really exist...If they tap into the idea that ‘I can connect with this person, I’m going to be whole, I’m going to be special, I’m going to feel good about myself.”
A clinical psychologist gave personal insight about Berry’s stalker on CNN’s Newsroom.
“I also see this man as being very sadistic in that he hasn’t even read the social cues where she’s screaming, she doesn’t want any parts of him, and so he is controlling her by fear. He knows that she’s afraid, so therefore he’s going to keep presenting himself in a way that is very threatening.”
Threatening was the key word for a Forbes blogger when she blasted the Daily News’ coverage of Berry’s stalker.
“'It’s not unusual to be hounded when you’re as gorgeous as Berry,'” coos the News in its headline, as if the stalker were persistently courting the actress instead of threatening her... And just for the record, Daily News, millions of women and men are stalked every year and the vast majority of them look nothing like Halle Berry.”
Police officers were called to the house both Saturday and Sunday, before Franco was finally arrested on Monday after obtaining surveillance video. In court on Wednesday, Franco pleaded not guilty, and TMZ reported...
“...the judge issued a curious restraining order, prohibiting him from going near her but not giving Halle's daughter the same protection...However, Nahla is already covered by a temporary restraining order against Franco that was imposed by a civil judge ... and that order will stay in effect despite today's ruling. ”
Franco’s bail is set at $150,000. Should he be released, Franco must abide by an order to stay 500 yards away from Halle and her residence for three years.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 27.
