Gwyneth Paltrow is taking her lifestyle blog, Goop, mobile.

Paltrow launched GoopCity, a guide to everything she loves about New York. The $4 iPhone app comes pre-loaded with 200 Gwyneth-approved places, complete with video diaries and personal anecdotes. (Apple)

So what can you expect on the app? Entertainment Weekly gives us a skewed snapshot.

“Finally some answers for on-the-go girls (and guys) who absolutely must know where to pick up this season’s most mouthwatering macriobiotic fare with Madonna … how to cope with the perils of sitting next to a sweaty seat filler at the Emmys (if I had a nickel…), and who you have to bang to get your hands on the latest Coldplay album...”

StyleCaster explains why Paltrow picked NYC as her first GoopCity.

“Gwyneth's motivation for creating the app [was] her negative personal experiences, including ‘years of being steered in the wrong direction by bribed concierges, biased opinions, and just plain bad suggestions.’ People, we have found our generation's Mother Teresa.”

Clearly, Gwyneth is getting some backlash for the seemingly self-indulgent app, but GeekSugar says -- give it a chance.

“Even if you prefer her acting credits to her lifestyle tips, it's hard to resist the cheerful weekly emissives on healthy cooking, world travel, and DIY beauty from Gwyneth Paltrow and her team of contributors at GOOP.”

And GigaOm says Gwyn’s app speaks to how diverse the land of apps is growing to be.

“This past summer, UberMedia launched an iPhone app designed by the rapper 50 Cent; Disney star Selena Gomez recently pitched in funding on a photo app .... It all speaks to how exciting — and increasingly crowded — the world of the consumer web has become.”

Don’t worry if you don’t live in New York- Gwyneth plans to Goop other cities starting in 2012.
