Let’s hear it for the boys! The nominated men of MTV’s Europe Music Awards are making headlines after winning the battle of the sexes. Seven male artists and groups came out on top in 10 different categories. Blogger Perez Hilton was not shy about taking to the Internet to share his thoughts on the show:

“The 2011 MTV Europe Awards was a show not to be missed ... Everyone from Justin Bieber to Coldplay was on hand to bust out their new material and delight their fans across the world with the music they love so much!”

This is a big change from the VMA’s that were dominated by Katy Perry, Gaga, Britney Spears, Adele, Nicki Minaj, and Beyonce. The Entertainment Junkie sums it up:

“VMAs 2011 — Who runs the world? Girls. … As for the winners, it's pretty much what you'd expect. Notable, however, is that women ruled the night, as a female artist took home 11 of 15 Moonmen.”

Bruno Mars, who performed his hit song, “Marry You,” won awards for best new artist and was named the ‘Push’ artist — an MTV up and comer.

Alternative group 30 Seconds to Mars and teen powerhouse Justin Bieber each brought home two awards. Also among the prize-winning guys were Eminem, Linkin Park, BigBang, and Queen for Global Icon. Still, one fierce female is never to be counted out of the race...

Presenter: “And the winner of Best Female Artist is... Lady Gaga!”
Presenter: “Lady Gaga!”
Presenters: “Lady Gaga!”

Gaga, the night’s big winner, took home four awards including Best Female, Best Fans, Best Song, and Best Video.

The only other winning woman was Katy Perry, who edged out Mother Monster for best live performer. Other highlights included performances by Coldplay, Jason DeRulo, and Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as a tribute to Amy Winehouse. But, it wouldn’t be an awards show without a bit of controversy...

Hayden Panettiere: “Oh my God...”

Yep, that’s right — An actual streaker interrupted Hayden Panettiere as she was presenting the Best Song award. Many assume the incident was planned but wondered why it wasn’t censored. For a full listing of the night’s winners, check out the transcript section.
