file this one under "underwhelmed" this isn't the referendum that media seem to want to make it. The mid-terms will be the ultimate bell-weather.

I think after the 2008 elections this may give the party a confidence boost. However, I think people are blowing it out of proportion in terms of Obama's effect on the outcome.

It is so hard for people to simply trust the person they elected to office. While I do think that every president should be watched with an especially overly-analytical eye, we have to give them some space and TIME to attempt the changes they promised.

Another one for the Republicans means it's not looking so good for Obama come reelection time, but then again it's too early to give up all hope.

It seems like a national politician cannot do well anymore. People are looking for a reason not to like them and if they disagree on just 1 of a president's 20 platform positions, they don't approve. You simply cannot agree with everything. Our country will continue to go back and forth, always unhappy with the current party. This, coming from a McCain voter.

These victories weren't really any surprise for those familiar with the voting histories of NJ and VA, so I don't think it adds any momentum. What I do find interesting, though, is that while Obama rallied in NJ and lost it, the same thing happened to Palin in NY. Did the rallies actually do any good for their respective parties?

It is quite obvious people are already tired of Obama, he is to extreme!
