Grammy anticipation took a surprising turn Saturday night with the unexpected passing of Whitney Houston. Producers are putting together a last-minute tribute --and Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan will perform in Houston’s honor. All in all -- the show will feature 19 performances, including several collaborations.

Alicia Keys is set to perform with Bonnie Raitt for a tribute to the late Etta James

The Beach Boys are making a return -- teaming up with Maroon 5 and Foster the People.

The Band Perry will salute legendary country star Glen Campbell.

And Chris Brown is set to perform with the Foo Fighters and Lil Wayne.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band are set to open the show. Meanwhile, Kanye West is the top nominee with seven nods -- the question on so many minds: How will he react if he loses?

West is known for being dramatic at awards shows -- like when he took the mic from Taylor Swift at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

The Atlantic says it’s surprising West hasn’t spoken out already -- and that actually -- he SHOULD be mad, because he hasn’t gotten the wins he deserves in the past.

“ … he really has been screwed, repeatedly [at awards shows].”

Soulful singer Adele is just behind West with six nominations. Many speculate she’ll walk home with several awards -- and she’s performing in what’s being called her comeback performance.

The singer had throat surgery just two months ago for a hemorrhaged vocal chord. She did an interview with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes that also airs Sunday night -- and in a preview clip, sounds solid.

ADELE: “See how I leave with every piece of you. Don’t underestimate the things that I will do.”

The night will also be a comeback for the Grammy host position. It’s been seven years since the awards show had a host -- LL Cool J will do the honors. He fills ET in on his hosting philosophy:

“Be myself, not make it about me, make it about the artists that are performing, and hopefully people will enjoy the show.”

The Grammys air Sunday night on CBS at 8/7 central.
