After pounding the Eagles for 100 plus yards, a touchdown and the win, 49ers running back Frank Gore wasn’t done taking shots.
During an interview with ESPN’s First Take, Gore said...
“I think the Eagles just didn't want to play no more...We just kept pounding and kept pounding and making plays and we kind of knocked the fight out of them.”
Wow is right. Those words coming from a player who’s never even been to the playoffs. But are Gore’s comments that off base?
First Take’s Skip Bayless and Jemele Hill give their take on the situation...
“He was speaking his heart. He saw quit in their eyes in the fourth quarter. I saw soft in that defense in the second half as they slowly but surely lost that lead.”
“This was supposed to be a premiere defense in the NFL and they just haven’t been. And they’re ranking among the bottom. They’re not tackling well.”
And the list goes on and on. But is it too early to write-off the Eagles because of a rocky start?
A Yahoo! Sports blogger looks at the big picture...
“Philadelphia starts 1-3 and we all have to know what it means...Why can't the answer be much simpler?...If not for a rookie kicker missing two easy kicks and Michael Vick getting hurt in Atlanta, the Eagles are 3-1 and living up to the hype.”
After a bunch of high-profile additions during the offseason, people called Philly the “Dream Team.” Four games later, it’s looking more like a nightmare.
Rant Sports has some sage advice for the Eagles...
“I am sure the Eagles got word of Gore’s statements. If that is not fuel to motivate the Birds, I do not know what would light a fire ... I can tell you that if the Eagles have a poor showing against the Buffalo Bills, the fans might quit. That is the truth.”
So how are the Eagles reacting to Gore’s comment?
An Eagles beat writer tweeted...
“Mike Vick doesn't think #Eagles quit in last game per Niners Frank Gore. Vick then said of Gore ‘Maybe he can say that. We've moved on’.”
The Eagles move on to play a much improved Buffalo Bills team on Sunday. A chance for the quote ‘Dream Team’ to snap out of it.
