After your company becomes an Internet juggernaut, what’s left to conquer? Apparently, it’s beer. Google has entered into a partnership with Dogfish Head Brewery to produce their own limited edition beer.
As TIME explains, it’s a tribute to their employees.
“After surveying thousands of Google employees worldwide about their hopes and dreams for the Dogfish-Google beer, a smaller team of Google employees then collaborated with the brewery to bring all the flavors together.”
The beer is called “Urkontinent.” On its YouTube channel, Dogfish Head Brewery explains more.
“Urkontinent was when people first recognised that all these continents fit together in a certain way. That’s kind of what we do when we bring a beer like this to life and it’s what Google does everyday - is take a fractured world of information and put it into something cohesive and whole.”
So, what can your palate expect from this unlikely collaboration? The Huffington Post has the details.
“They ended up with a Belgian Dubbel-style beer with additional ingredients proposed by Googlers, like chocolate malts and Belgiun dark candi syrup, wattleseed from Australia, amaranth from South America, green rooibos from Africa and myrica gale from Europe.”
But don’t expect to see Google as a regular brand on the shelves, though. The company tells CNET it was a one-time-only venture...
“While our Googlers had fun advising on the creation of a beer recipe, we aren't receiving any proceeds from the sale of the beer and we have no plans to enter the beer business."
Urkontinent is available for a limited time at the Dogfish Head Brewery pub. Depending on its popularity, it could potentially be packaged for distribution later.
