What do you love?
That’s what Google is asking with its newest webpage. A one-stop shop for all Google products, WDYL.com is up and running, but Google has yet to officially release it.
The homepage is sleek and simple with just a text box asking “What do you love?” and a heart-shaped button to start your search. TechCrunch was the first to discover the mysterious new site.
“...the idea is to return users a single page of relevant results across many of Google’s products for whatever query is typed into the wdyl search box.”
Any search will bring up an interactive collage made up of several of Google’s products, including images from Picasa, stories from Google News, Youtube videos and much more.
The site makes it easy to access all of Google’s products, which according to CNN,
“...makes it a nice option for users who don't have the time to tinker with options and simply want to have access to Google's many services on one page.”
TIME’s Techland blog says -- it’s pretty, but not necessarily life-changing.
“The new site, appropriately complete with a search button that's a heart, has a nice, fluid design that should appeal to most eyes... but the site in itself is not hugely useful. However, it does showcase what Google can offer pretty well...”
Some suspect the site marks the beginning of an expansive Google marketing campaign. A blogger for ZDNet says...
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we started seeing ‘What do you love?’ as the slogan behind Google television commercials and magazine ads within the next few weeks.”
