Google+ is the latest G product to join the company’s TV ad circle. After the search giant made a memorable move to the big screen during the 2010 Superbowl...

...TV viewers - football fans in this case - have seen ads for search and Google Chrome. (Video: Google)

The latest TV spot, like the others focuses on the human side of the Google’s technology. (Video: Google)

“I rely so heavily on the personal connections between me and the people who are closest to me. It’s fuel.”
SEE ON SCREEN: “Sharing but like real life. That’s a plus.”

But is the ad a plus for Google? A writer for CNET says the tagline is intriguing, but with its 90-second run-time...

“Somehow, this ad feels almost as long as most Thanksgiving lunches. … Would it really have been entirely impossible to sum up the gorgeous joys of Google+ in, say, 30 or 40 seconds?”

And a writer for Softpedia agrees adding the plus ad was also minus basic understanding. When people saw the Super Bowl search ad, they knew what they were looking at.

“With the Google+ ad, if you don’t already know what it is, it's easy to miss the point entirely. Everyone uses Facebook of course, but it's not extremely evident from the Google+ that it's a Facebook competitor.”

But TechCrunch points out, the TV ad, which aired during the Packers-Lions game, isn’t the first people have seen of G+.

“The move isn’t terribly surprising — Google has been putting a lot of muscle behind driving users toward Google+, including featuring an unmissable ad on Google.com when the service first opened its doors to the public, and prompting users of the latest version of Android to create a Google+ if they haven’t already.”

Despite Google’s efforts, G+ usage is down. So, the important question - did Google score or did you snore?
