They’ve been together for 28 years, they have two children...and now they’ll say “I do.”
62 year old Gene Simmons said he’d never get married, but next month he’ll finally KISS the bride.

“Congratulations to KISS rocker Gene Simmons and girlfriend Shannon Tweed after decades together, it’s a fact, the couple will tie the knot in Beverly Hills.”

If you watched the season finale of the rocker’s reality show Family Jewels you probably already knew the couple planned to get married thanks to the on-cam proposal.

But, if you also watched the couple’s more recent interview with Joy Behar you might have started second-guessing the marriage plans. Simmons once said that he’s slept with almost 5,000 women. On the show, he joked about it...and it didn’t go over well with Tweed.

BEHAR: How’s your back Gene?
SIMMONS: My back is good. My shmeckle, not so much.
TWEED: That’s very nice of you to joke about.
SIMMONS: It’s a joke. Where are you going? What are you doing?
TWEED: It’s so rude.
BEHAR: She’s done with you.
TWEED: It’s so rude for you to joke about it. You think it’s really funny?
SIMMONS: I was just joking because she’s a comedian.

But as E! News points out--apparently things are patched up between the couple now. And according to the fancy, yet light-hearted invitation--the whole family is on board.

“The couple’s two children Sophie and Nicholas attach a drawing of the family and a poem offering a comic take on what it means for their mom and dad to be saying ‘I do’ after so long. ‘Our mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our Father’s life...well it doesn’t change that much.’”

Although this seems like a happy time emotionally for the family...a writer for USA Today can’t help but see the wedding announcement as a ratings stunt.

“Will married life bring the famous couple a new sense of contentment? Will it boost ratings for Family Jewels -- which conveniently launches a new season Oct. 4, three days after their scheduled nuptials? Stay tuned...”
