A bad night on the town for singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw. He was apparently the victim of a brutal attack. ABC News has more.

“Degraw was viciously attacked by what police are describing as a group of thugs. He was rushed to the emergency room, left with a broken nose, a concussion, bruises and lacerations.”

There’s still a lot of confusion surrounding the attack -- some of it from the singer himself.  A writer for CelebrityGossipInfo says -- even DeGraw wasn’t initially sure what happened.

“It’s not clear what led to the attack or how many individuals were involved, cops say, but Gavin was reportedly ‘highly intoxicated’ at the time and did not initially report the assault to police. He eventually told cops that several White and Hispanic men assaulted him.”

As if his night wasn’t already bad enough, DeGraw was later hit by a cab before being taken to the hospital. Regardless of how the details play out, an analyst on HLN is impressed with how much the singer can take.

RICHELLE CAREY: “The strangest thing is -- he didn’t call police. He goes to the hospital, then that’s when police get involved. What is going on here?”
JAWN MURRAY: “Apparently this happened on like 6th and 1st street in New York, and he got hit by a taxi on like 19th. I mean, who gets beat up that bad and walks 13 blocks? This guy’s like Superman.”

Finally, a writer for Universal Excuses says -- hey, it could’ve been worse.

“Throw in a case of herpes and this is the worst night of drinking gone wrong.”

DeGraw has cancelled some of his appearances this week, but is expected to be performing again by the weekend.
