Although the internet has long suspected Jon Snow would be resurrected, the showrunners went as far as lying to the cast to keep the secret.

It was the worst kept TV secret of the year: The Red Priestess has revived Jon Snow.

And while the internet knew Snow would be resurrected months ago, the showrunners and cast tried to keep a lid on it.

Both Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Carice van Houten (Melisandre) have recently aired the extraordinary lengths they both went to to keep the secret safe.

Harrington told Entertainment Weekly for nearly a year he had to convince his cast mates and friends he was leaving the "Game of Thrones." He said Sophie Turner, aka Sansa Stark, "wrote me a really long letter about how much she loved working with me."

Harington also said the name "Jon Snow" wasn't printed in any scripts or on-set materials. The production crew couldn't even say the name on set.

As for the Red Woman, she also was forced to deceive her family and friends for months at a time. Van Houten tells The Daily Beast she lied so much that "at some point, I really believed myself."

Either way, the secret is out, and as Jon Snow won't stop telling us,

"We're headed into spring now," Seth Meyers said.

"Winter is coming," Jon Snow responded.
