Korean tech publication Electronic Times News reports Samsung is prepping the Galaxy S III for launch later this year. Boy Genius Report translated.

Rumor has it the S III will cram 4G LTE, four cores, two gigs of RAM and Android 4.0 into a 7mm thick case. That’s a whole tenth of a millimeter thinner than the Droid RAZR.

But IntoMobile is worried about the potential phone-cuts.

“We get that every company wants to be the thinnest, lightest, fastest, and all of that jazz but at some point they need to step back. Does anyone care if their phone is 7mm thick? Not this guy.”

TIME doesn’t mind the hefty spec sheet, but does hope it’s put to good use.

“Let’s see those extra processor cores translate to superior power management and better battery life, and let’s hope there’s more to the camera than extra megapixels — such as a faster shutter and better image stabilization.”

The Next Web says Samsung may be taking its time releasing this phone, because the Galaxy S II is doing just fine.

“With the Samsung Galaxy S II continuing to create significant amounts of buzz, sources indicated to us that the company does not want to cannibalise sales of a device that is performing well against its competition.”

Which leads CNET to say - U.S. customers may want to sit back and hang tight.

“Whenever the Galaxy S III does first make its way into restlessly waiting hands, don’t expect it to be here. U.S. fans are likely to be left waiting, as they were for months after the Galaxy S II first revved Samsung’s global business into high gear.”

Samsung says the S III won’t be coming to February’s Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. Instead, the company will hold its own event sometime in the next few months.
