He’s almost cornered...and now sources say Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi could switch from fight...to flight.

NBC News broke the story...

“Intelligence reports indicate that Libyan leader Muammar Gadaffi is in the process of making plans to evacuate both himself and his family from Libya. And one official suggested that could happen within a matter of days.”

Tunisian radio has exclusive details--writing the evacuation process has already begun for Gaddafi’s family. Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua has the translation...

“A Venezuelan plane has landed on the island of Djerba to evacuate members of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's family, Tunisian radio, Mosaique FM, reported on Friday..”

The news comes amid a surge forward by rebel forces--recently taking over the coastal town of Zawiyah. The New York Times reports...

“Rebel fighters claimed complete control of a sprawling oil refinery in this coastal town on Thursday, seizing one of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s most important assets after just three days of fighting and delivering the latest in a string of small victories that have suddenly put the rebels at Tripoli’s door.”

An Egypt-based news website is paying close attention to the initial NBC report...saying there’s really no confirmation this exit will happen.

“The officials could provide no further details as to conditions or precise timing for Gaddafi’s departure, NBC said, and the news report emphasized that there was no guarantee that Gaddafi would follow through on any plans to flee.”
