Gabby Giffords looks to offer her condolences to Newtown families. Here’s Fox News with the details.

“The former congresswoman and her husband Mark Kelly are expected to meet with the families of the children who were murdered Last year the Arizona lawmaker retired from Congress to focus on her own recovery...”
 
Giffords was shot in the head during a 2011 mass shooting in Tucson. Six people were murdered in that massacre, and 12 others wounded. Giffords has since become known as an advocate for gun control.

On her Facebook page she shared a post from her husband the day of the Newtown shooting. It said …

The children of Sandy Hook Elementary School and all victims of gun violence deserve leaders who have the courage to participate in a meaningful discussion about our gun laws... this can no longer wait.”

The New York City Mayor's office confirmed Mayor Michael Bloomberg met with Giffords and her husband earlier this week. The Hill reports Bloomberg has also been a prominent leader in the gun control discussion. After President Obama developed the commission on gun control, Bloomberg said in a statement...

"The task force must move quickly with its work, as 34 Americans will be murdered with guns every day that passes without common sense reforms to our laws,"

And the students of Sandy Hook Elementary will return to school for their second day on Thursday. According to ABC News, it appears the students were happy to return.

reporter: “... as nearly 500 Sandy Hook students returned to class for the first time. >> most of the kids were excited. seeing friends they haven't seen in awhile. they were anxious to get into the hallways...and you could see the teachers had the same response.”
