On June 29, Newsy cited a poll showing only 22 percent of those surveyed identified themselves as Republican. But this grim stat for the GOP hasn’t hurt the ratings of conservative media.
Today Politico reports:
“[FOX] programs now rank one through 10 in total viewers on cable news.
Since Obama came into office, FOX has continued not only winning, but doing so at unprecedented levels.”
The O’Reilly Factor leads the pack with about 3.2 million viewers.
“Dennis Miller on protecting the kids, coming up on the Factor.”
Van Susteren:
“That’s on the Factor, 11:00 p.m. Eastern time, the number one show of all cable news, Bill O’Reilly.”
Keith Olbermann, liberal pundit and adamant FOX and O’Reilly critic, ranked 11th on the list with about 1.1 million viewers—over 2 million less than O’Reilly.
“But first off, Countdown’s number two story, tonight’s worst persons in the world.”
“But our winner, Bill-O the historian.”
“But our winner is Bill-O the clown.”
“But our winner, Bill-O.”
At the Huffington Post, CNN co-founder Reese Schonfeld speculates about the popularity of Fox News.
“Conservatives seem so angry at their loss, so ready to blame Obama for all their problems that almost 400,000 more of them are watching FoxNews this year than they did last year. I think they turn to Fox for comfort and confirmation.”
Conservative media watchdog site News Busters counters this argument:
“Try guessing that viewers are bored by the constant Obama adulation that they see on CNN and MSNBC and want a more accurate presentation of the news, Reese.”
The Baltimore Sun backs the sentiment of News Busters:
“FOX is the one channel that seems absolutely committed to being a watchdog on the White House—a job crucial to any notion of press responsibility…”
So, doesn’t all of this violate Obama’s pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class?
“It defies common sense.”
Why do you think FOX News is having so much success?
