Fox News is getting a little "Clueless."

No, that's not a dig. The No. 1 cable net has hired Stacey Dash, who played Dionne in the hit 1995 film "Clueless," as a contributor.

That's the same role Sarah Palin has at the network.

According to Deadline, the 47-year-old actress will "offer cultural analysis and commentary across various daytime and primetime programs."

Dash has made frequent guest appearances on various Fox News programs since the 2012 election.

That's when she caught major flak for supporting Republican candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan on Twitter. She made the media rounds soon after to defend her political beliefs.

DASH: "We're all entitled to our opinion. And I used my platform to exercise my First Amendment right as an American citizen to say who I am going to vote for."

BARBARA WALTERS: "If you were white, they wouldn't have minded. It's because you're black and didn't vote for Obama."

DASH: "Yes, yes. That's it."

WALTERS: "How dare you not vote for, vote for the race."

DASH: "It was about race. Yes."

And according to Variety, it's Dash's response to the backlash that helped get her the gig — the network credited the star with being "an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints amongst her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates."

So far, media reaction to Dash's hire has been pretty positive. Us Weekly congratulated the star.

Time says it's too soon to pass any judgment — we haven't seen her in her new role yet.

And as The Washington Post put it: "Telegenic, controversy-sparking and social-media savvy? Sounds like perfect casting for TV punditry."

Twitter reaction has been a little stronger, though — as Twitchy says, the news drew out "lefty venom" on social media.

No word yet on when Dash will make her first official appearance as a contributor.
