Want to be Mike Meyers for Halloween? That’ll cost you a mere $30 at Wal-Mart. But, if you want to sport the scariest costume of the season, $25,000 could buy you the summer’s favorite villain, Casey Anthony.
Fox News reports -- a bidding war for a single latex Casey Anthony mask -- started last Sunday at $25. It was created for a parody video by pop artist and sculptor -- Toro.
“The seller -- named ‘Prophunter’ with a 100 percent record -- said it was, ‘One of the best Halloween masks I've ever seen. This one is in excellent condition and it is numbered 6 of 9.”
In the seller’s EBay description of the nearly identical replica of the 25-year-old, he mentions he kept one mask for himself after the video was finished because he knew it would be a “significant piece of crime history.”
“No matter what you’re opinion of the trial is, this is still one heck of a conversation piece. I bet Nancy Grace would love one of these.”
With more than 80 bids and nearly $25,000 coming his way, one host from The View finds the seller’s attempt to cash in on the controversial murder case -- insulting.
“I think whoever’s selling this, that is the most disgusting and vile thing. I think you are dishonoring the memory of little, Caylee Anthony. You're going out on a night when you're taking your kids out. I open the door and see this? You'd better be careful wearing that mask because a lot of people don’t like that woman.”
But, Prophunter isn’t the only one trying to make a few bucks.
ABC released several photos on their website showing Anthony-themed merchandise -- from bumper stickers to high school yearbooks. And, yes, you can buy it all.
But some warn being Freddy, Jason, or Mike Meyers might just be the cheapest AND safest option. A blogger for the Imperfect Parent says:
“So if you want to be the talk of your Halloween party this year go ahead and place a bid — but be warned, looking like Casey Anthony can have some unexpected consequences.”
