Here’s something a Harvard degree never got anybody - a $60 million contract to play quarterback in the NFL. The Buffalo Bills’ Ryan Fitzpatrick got just that Friday.

An ESPN analyst says the move does a lot for the Bills’ credibility.

“When you say things and you commit to those things and you do that - guess what? Every other player in that organization goes, ‘Yes, right, you did it the right way.’ And they respect that about the organization.”

Fitzpatrick’s contract is worth about $10 million a year - similar to contracts given to Kevin Kolb and Matt Cassel. A writer for SB Nation thinks Bills fans should be happy they’ve got the cream of that crop.

“The fact that the Bills are paying less for a much more productive player correlates to the generally upbeat mood in Western New York this afternoon.”

But a writer for CBS Sports wonders if the contract extension was a little premature.

“I mean, the guy has been a backup most of his career, then broke into the starting lineup off and on the past two years...Now, six games into the season we've seen enough to believe he's a franchise quarterback?”

That franchise quarterback has a career record of 13-15 with the Bills. Couple that with knowledge of current events and you’ll see why a writer for the Ology blog asks fans to ‘Occupy Buffalo’ -- tongue firmly planted in cheek.

“Ryan Fitzpatrick is the product of a system that rewards money with money while caring little about the effects of that attitude on the majority of the population. Stand up to the Bills and stand up to Ryan Fitzpatrick, America!”

Fitzpatrick hopes to lead the Bills to the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
