The summer’s latest romantic comedy hit theaters Friday-- Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. And already, everyone’s got an opinion.
“In the rom-com directed by Will Gluck, they play a couple who go through a rough break-up and then start their relationship again on a sex-only basis."
The movie’s had a mixed reception from critics -- but one thing they can agree on -- is there’s a lot of sex. Here’s ABC...
“The title of this movie ‘Friends with Benefits’ promises a lot more than this movie delivers. The comedy isn’t funny enough or sexy enough but its definitely smutty enough. A lot of bathroom jokes, more sexual innuendos than I can count."
Movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes has the flick at a 76 percent fresh rating.
But famed movie critic Richard Roeper gives the movie an A, saying -- it’s better than Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher’s ‘No Strings Attached,’ which had a similar storyline.
“What is wrong with two very good movies about friends who try to have sex without romantic entanglements. I like No Strings Attached but I am an even bigger fan of Friends with Benefits. Don’t believe the title this non-com is actually the best romantic comedy of year. (flash) We need to stop chiding Friends with Benefits for being the second film this year to tackle this subject."
Finally - a blogger for Forbes uses the film as a jumping off point, wondering -- can people really be friends with benefits?
“Trying to be ‘friends with benefits’ is like trying to make ice cream in a hot oven. It’s the flip-side of a sexless relationship, which is like trying to cook a steak in the freezer. Something’s going to give."
