The father of the Indian woman who was brutally gang raped in Delhi has now revealed her name to the public in hope that it will inspire strength for other women who have endured such attacks.

Badri Singh Pandey told the U.K.’s Sunday People that he wants the world to know his daughter’s real name  — Jyoti Singh Pandey.

I am proud of her. Revealing her name will give courage to other women who have survived these attacks. They will find strength from my daughter."

The 23-year-old died last week in a Singapore hospital from the injuries she suffered during last month’s attack. CNN reports the six men responsible for assault are scheduled to head to court Monday.

“The suspects are charged with murder, rape, and kidnapping. And will be tried in one of the court’s so-called fast track courts.”

According to the BBC, Indian law protects sex crime victims by prohibiting identification. But supporters of Jyoti from across the country asked her father to release her name so it can be used for a new anti-rape law.

“The laws on identification were introduced to protect victims from the social stigma associated with rape, and apply even after the death of the victim.” But the Sunday People published the information after it “said the father had given it permission to name him and his daughter.”

According to the Sunday People, the father also showed them photos of Jyoti, but requested that no pictures of the victim be used at this time.
