Farrah Fawcett’s exclusion during the memorial tribute at the Academy Awards continues to raise a lot of eyebrows. Although the producers have offered an apology – MSNBC says they didn’t waste anytime defending themselves.

“They’re backtracking, they’re saying she really was a television star.  She really should be honored by the television academy”

“But she was in several movies”

“She was in Extremities, I mean that was the biggest movie that she did.  I honestly feel like this was just a mistake on their part and they really are trying to cover it up if they can.”

A Showbiz Tonight correspondent doesn’t think the apology is enough and says there's no excuse for what the Academy did.

“They’re saying they did it on purpose and you put Michael Jackson in that’s star of what – music right?  It makes no sense, it’s an insult.  They’re nothing they can say, but that was a failed attempt at an apology.”

The women of  “The View” aren’t buying it either.  Immediately after the awards they assumed the Academy simply forgot – Barbara Walters even forgetting herself.

BEHAR: “They forgot Farrah Fawcett…they forgot Farrah Fawcett”

HASSELBECK: “Well was she in a bunch of films though?”

BEHAR: “She was a movie actress – some of them more on TV some of them…”

WALTERS: “Was that last year?”

BEHAR: “I mean Michael Jackson was lauded and he made one movie.”

And after the apology – they still didn’t buy it.  Walters, later remembering that she did die last year, suggests she might have been overshadowed by Michael Jackson.

“The day that Farrah Fawcett died, do you remember, was the same day that Michael Jackson died.  It was June 25 and I remember because I did tributes to both of them that night, so then it does raise the question.”

Some say as a member of the Academy, Fawcett who appears on the website, should have made the cut for the ceremony too.

According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences website, Fawcett is listed on Members Memorium section.

Showbiz Tonight says Fawcett’s family is particularly upset and they don’t accept the apology.

“The daughter of Farrah’s longtime love Ryan O’Neal Oscar winner Tatum O’Neal is slamming the Academy telling people.com quote ‘we are deeply saddened that a truly beautiful and talented actress Farrah Fawcett was not included in the memorial montage.  We are bereft with this exclusion.”

But a FOX News correspondent says the family shouldn’t be getting so worked up over a Hollywood tribute.

“It’s too precious out here.  Once I’m dead around a tenth of a second if my kids remember me as a good guy and my wife remembers me as a good husband.  I don’t care what montage you put me in with Michael Jackson, nor should her family.”

So do you buy the Academy’s statement that they intentionally left her out.  Or did they just forget?
