It’s time for those on the small screen to shine with this weekend’s Emmy Awards. And you might say the predictions are pretty obvious. Most television critics and experts seem to be in agreement this year over the two most coveted categories — Best Comedy and Best Drama.
We have the breakdown of the predictions from The Huffington Post, MSNBC, NBC and the Kansas City Star.
A Life and Style television expert says Best Comedy is all about the new series — and it’s really a toss up between two of them.
“Now pretty much every entertainment analyst out there has picked 'Modern Family' as the winner of tomorrow night’s award show, but I’m going with a slightly longer shot, I’m going with 'Glee'. Yes, 'Glee' has garnered 19 nominations for tomorrow night’s show and just with the momentum of the past year, the fact that the entertainment community loves it so much, I’m putting my money there." The Today Show provides its predictions for best drama saying although there’s a new show that might give the favorite a bit of hard competition — "Mad Men" is still the one to beat.
“I am absolutely mad for 'Mad Men'. The story lines and the writing make it such a phenomenal show, 'The Good Wife' will give it a run for its money, but 'Mad Men' should and will win the three-peat.”
The Kansas City Star questions whether the award show will honor first time nominees — since there are a lot of them.
“Emmy voters tend to pick a horse and ride it into the ground. That's why '30 Rock' will be gunning for its fourth consecutive triumph as TV's Outstanding Comedy, and why 'Mad Men' is a decent bet to win its third straight Outstanding Drama trophy.”
A television critic for The Huffington Post says although he has his picks — this year, he doesnt’ really care.
“I'm approaching the annual Emmy Awards from a different perspective this year, because for the first time ... I don't care who wins! ... There were so many terrific series on television last year and so many exciting performances that this time around the recognition that really matters came in being nominated.”
So will you be tuning in to see who brings home the awards? Which shows do you want to win?
