A pair of Tesla owners took out a full page ad in Palo Alto Weekly because, well, they have a few suggestions for the electric car maker.

In a move perhaps as unusual as this letter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded publicly.

He tweeted an image of the letter to his 862,000 followers, saying, “Many of the suggestions will be implemented soon.”

Although Musk was careful not to say which changes Tesla will make and when exactly it will complete them. After all, you wouldn’t expect to see Tim Cook tweet at someone who’s suggested a bigger screen for the iPhone, would you?

But a writer for Green Car Reports — who's also a Model S owner— details a similar experience, saying Musk has responded to him directly via email multiple times.

But that might be what sets Musk apart. He says, “Can you imagine having a lively e-mail back-and-forth with Mark Fields or Mary Barra, CEOs of Ford and General Motors respectively?”

A reporter for The Huffington Post points out this approach, while odd, reflects the devotion Tesla owners have for their cars.

“This is almost as much an effort to reach out to Elon Musk as it is to praise the company in public.”

Which the writers do in their letter. Even amongst their specific suggestions, the couple calls Tesla “the great American car.” They even sign off “two VERY highly satisfied Tesla owners.” And that’s probably true.

The Model S was named Motor trend’s Car of the Year in 2013. Musk said at the event, “I think this is going to be recognized as the key sort of turning point where electric cars really became the best product.” (Video via Tesla Motors)

Maybe after we get those cup holders fixed, Elon.
