“For the past three weeks she has been wearing next to nothing. Ok, so she's come in and in light of what happened and as illegal and as inexcusable it was for that horrific guy to go in a peep on her in her hotel room, I mean, in some way if I’m him, I’m like, man I could have just waited 12 weeks and seen this a little bit less without the prison time.” (YouTube)
Elizabeth Hasselbeck's comments on "The View" are creating a major feud in Hollywood.
ESPN Sideline Reporter and "Dancing with The Stars" contestant Erin Andrews fired back at Hasselbeck on Access Hollywood.
“…Everybody is an entitled to an opinion, but my biggest complaint of the situation is she's a woman, and she's a mother, and there was giggling, it was made to be a mockery of something I’ve lived through this past year, my family has lived through. My friends have lived through. We have a convicted felon going to jail for doing this, and I don’t know who’s laughing about this. So I felt like it was a slap in the face for victims of stalkers and victims of sexual predators.”
“I’m really sorry and I want to offer that publicly too, sorry to get emotional about it, I don’t like to hurt someone — so sorry Erin.” (The View)
People are weighing in on the comments and the reaction. A celebrity correspondent for Showbiz Tonight says despite the apology, Hasselbeck’s comments were unacceptable.
“I’m glad she felt badly, it was outrageous what she said … It was a slap in the face. … I think its very sad that some people feel that Erin Andrews should curtail her activities and opportunities because she had a stalker, she’s the victim here.”
A blogger for the Deseret News looks at the situation from Hasselbeck's perspective, saying, given what happened to her, Andrews could have made a decision to not...
"...even go on DWTS in the first place knowing that you'll probably have to wear scantily clad costumes and open yourself up to even more stalkers and harassment, or... at least go overboard in dressing modestly."
But on Fox Sports Jason Whitlock says he will relish the feud.
“I’m going to… simply enjoy this little clawing, mean-spirited charade of a catfight. Seriously, it doesn’t get any better than…Sideline Barbie vs. Lil Sarah Palin. This is the kind of sexy, high-profile, blonde-on-blonde violence we rarely glimpse.”
So what do you think? Is this feud worthy of all the coverage? Or is it overblown?
