In what’s she’s calling her one and only interview, Elin Nordegren finally decided to speak out just days after her divorce from Tiger Woods.  She is, for the most part, being praised for the way she handled the post divorce interview with People Magazine.  CNN’s Rick’s List has the details of that interview.

“She tells People Magazine that she never suspected that her golf star husband was fooling around with multiple mistresses.  She said she’s embarrassed and felt stupid when she found out.  She also denied reports that she struck Tiger Woods with a golf club or anything else that could have been seen as violent the night of his car crash that started this entire scandal rolling.”

On ABC’s Good Morning America, People Magazine’s managing editor Peter Castro gives some behind the scenes details of the interview  including when Tiger walked in.

“Well he was bringing the kids back from their visit with him and surprised Sandra [the author] and our photographer and everybody else in the house, but it was a very, very pleasant scene and that was one of the surprising things.  And one of the reasons we put it as our lead is that it shows very, very clearly there really is no animosity, I mean Elin is moving on.”

Showbiz Tonight says Elin handled the divorce and subsequent press pretty well  comparing her to another beloved wronged wife.

“I think both Sandra and Elin were very smart about the way they handled this.  They’re still talking about the situation but doing it in a really relateable way. ... Frankly, it’s classy, they waited until we forgot about all the details, we forgot about every picture of every mistress that we saw splashed in the paper and just gave it some distance, gave it some time, and now we’re just concentrating on the women.”

But JewishJournal takes a lighter approach and sarcastically says Elin should have been more honest about the money.

“It would have been refreshing for her to talk about the money.  Not in specific amounts, but to say her life is blessed … I think she is naïve though if she thinks we believe money does not make it hurt a little less.  She is young, gorgeous and rich.  That’s not bad, but she was a nanny, married for a few years, had her heart broken and is now set for life.”

In his own interview with golf.com  Tiger expresses regret saying he wishes Elin the best in everything, noting it’s a sad time for both of them. A blogger for YourTango has reaction to Tiger’s response.

“Say what? ... Although the disgraced golfer looked like he had been through hell and back, we’re still not convinced of his sincerity.  After all, if he really wanted what was best for his wife and two kids, why did he have all those affairs in the first place.  It looks to us like Tiger’s just sad he got caught.”

Do you think Elin should be praised for the way she’s handled this situation?
