Former IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn signed Monday a settlement in civil court with the maid who claimed he sexually assaulted her last year. But the terms of the deal remain undisclosed. Al Jazeera reports:

“New York hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo was expected to receive a sum of around $5 million but the amount in the final deal is confidential.”

This is the end of an 18-month scandal which started in May 2011, when Diallo accused Strauss-Kahn of having sexually assaulted her in his room. The criminal charges were dropped by the end of 2011 because Diallo’s testimonies were reportedly inconsistent. (VIDEO VIA WNBC)

But by the time the criminal case was dismissed, Diallo had filed the civil lawsuit that was settled today. In the suit, she claimed Strauss-Kahn forced her to perform oral sex, causing her emotional and physical damage.

The scandal forced Strauss-Kahn to resign from the IMF back in 2011. He has since filed a defamation countersuit worth $1 million earlier in 2012, claiming the sex was consensual. But that case has not come close to a trial. (VIDEO VIA CNN)

Strauss-Kahn has reportedly resumed his career, giving speeches in private conferences and establishing a consulting firm in Paris.

As for Ms.Diallo, she has not returned to work in the aftermath of the scandal and is on worker’s compensation, according to the hotel. After the hearing, her lawyer Kenneth Thompson said she was now ‘ready to move on with her life’.

The settlement is not the end of the DSK’s judiciary saga; he is likely to be charged in France for an alleged involvement in a pimping scandal.
