Arrested in Colorado.

Three armed siblings known as the Dougherty Gang eluded capture for more than a week. Fox News has a recap.

Alicia Acuna: “Now we have to remember that this all goes back to August 2nd when authorities in Florida were trying to pull over the three members of this family and they took off in a chase they shot at police and cops say then they also held up a  bank in Georgia and it may have all ended here in Colorado.”

The siblings were caught after their getaway car crashed. Experts predicted if the siblings were tracked down they wouldn’t go quietly -- and they were right. WTSP spoke with one such expert who sheds some light on why.

Kensel: “The suspect that doesn’t care if he or she lives or dies is the worst case scenario for a law enforcement officer.”

Adam Freeman: “Kensel says all signs point to that being the mindset of the Doughertys he tells us the family dynamic makes them even more of a threat.”

One of the many questions remaining-- just what did they have planned? WTVT got an exclusive look inside the Dougherty’s old home and the surprising addition they made--an underground bunker complete with running water, and electricity.

Josh Cassio: “Pasco deputies confirm it was investigated for drug activity but nothing illegal was found. The current owner who bought the property after the Dougherties moved out says he was shocked by what he saw.”

Owner: “Very surprised. They got good minds on ‘em and they just put them to waste.”

Police reported that no fatalities occurred during the arrest-- a fact that left one blogger for Barstool Sports disappointed.

“The Dougherty Gang got captured? I thought for sure they wouldn’t let themselves get taken alive. I mean you go this far you got to go the whole way. Like drive your car off a cliff Thelma and Louise style or something.”

It’s not yet clear which of the three states involved in the cross country crime spree will have jurisdiction over the case.
