Basketball’s bad boy, Dennis Rodman was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame Friday night. HLN has the clip.

Anchor: “Headlining this year’s -- class two time defensive player of the year and NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman who showed his softer side during his time at the podium, check it out.”
Rodman: “I didn’t play the game for the money, I didn’t play the game to be famous.”

Rodman thanked his family and friends and apologised for not being a better son, husband and father. And just like any other red carpet event -- the critics were eager not only to hear what Rodman would say but to see what he would wear. Two CNN reporters share their opinion.

TJ Holmes: “Now I have to admit Hall of Fame ceremony last night I was waiting to see what he was gonna show up in and he kinda disappointed me a little bit.”
Ray D’Alessio: “Yeah, I mean, maybe he’s calming down in his old age, I don’t know. But this guy’s certainly deserving of the hall of fame.”

Throughout his 14 year career, Rodman was named defensive player of the year twice, won five titles and averaged 13 rebounds per game. Even with all that one blogger for Jayreas worries that his personal behavior off the court will be what he’s remembered for most.

“Dennis Rodman is still as weird and unlikable as ever. He tried unsuccessfully to be a human during his Hall of Fame speech. … Does he belong in the Hall of Fame from a numbers standpoint? Sure. Does he belong locked away somewhere for a mental standpoint? We might be a couple decades late for that.”

But another blogger for Bleacher Report says -- “Leave Dennis alone!”He was a great player and that’s what the Hall of Fame is about.

“Whatever happens off the court shouldn’t go into consideration, unless it is something incredibly wrong. He did some drugs and had a strange sense of fashion, so what? Rodman deserves his Hall of Fame nomination for what he did on the court, not off the court.”
