‘Tebow Time’ now seems to be a distant memory in Denver. Earlier this week, Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas shared his thoughts on the media craze that followed his team’s improbable run throughout last season. Thomas spoke on 790 The Zone in Atlanta.

“You know everything on ESPN was all about Tim. That bothered some players too because they would say ‘Tim Tebow Time.’ I felt like it was a team thing. If it wasn’t for the defense most of the time there wouldn’t be no supposed ‘Tim Tebow Time’.’’

The Broncos’ ascent was the talk of the football world in 2011, but was followed by a flurry of moves that saw Denver signing free agent quarterback Peyton Manning and trading away Tebow.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter points out others may have shared Thomas’s feelings.

“There was an undercurrent to this all season long. Every time you heard a Bronco player talk you could read between the lines, and tell that’s exactly the way they felt because it’s a team sport. It’s 53 guys, it’s not one guy”

With the media-popular Tebow now a New York Jet and Manning in town to lead the Broncos, Alfred Williams of Denver’s 104.3 The Fan says Thomas and the rest of the team need to turn the page for their own sake.

“Just let it go. I mean, if Demaryius Thomas didn’t say anything else about Tim Tebow, he would’ve been fine. Instead, now he has a group of people out there now that may tend to dislike him because he mentioned the name of Tim Tebow in an unflattering way.”

Others are acknowledging Thomas’ comments as a way of clearing the air. Mile High Report’s John Bena writes:

“Agree or disagree, you have to admire Thomas' honesty. Whether there was tension - Thomas says there was not - his comments prove there was something going on in the locker room and the Broncos needed to deal with it, just as they had to deal with the circus off the field.”
