ANCHOR MEGAN MURPHY

Three people are dead, including the suspected gunman, after gunshots rang out in the lobby of a Delaware courthouse Monday morning.

We know the gunman walked right in. Didn't walk through the metal detectors, didn't get that far. He just started shooting. He shot four people”

All of this during the busy rush hour as many people return to work, many businesses, and of course right there at the New Castle County Courthouse, to start their Monday morning.”

ANCHOR: Here's a witness to it.
WITNESS: “She was kind of getting hysterical. She was scared. I’m scared. I’m scared. They're shooting and that's what she would say.”

The suspect shot four people in total — two security guards and two women, including the shooter’s estranged wife, according to the mayor of Wilmington.

Authorities then opened fire on the suspect who was killed... but it hasn’t been determined if the suspect died from authority fire or from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Delaware Online also reports:

“Wilmington Police Chief Christine Dunning [is] attending a roundtable on gun violence with Vice President Joe Biden and other law enforcement officials in Philadelphia [Monday], [and] declined comment on the shooting and deferred to officials on the scene in Wilmington.”

Authorities are certain the shooter worked alone, but are sweeping the courthouse floor by floor to ensure the rest of the building is safe. Stay with Newsy for the latest on this situation.
