It’s a video gone viral for all the wrong reasons. A Texas judge’s daughter recently posted video online of her father beating her. A warning, the video is disturbing...
"F****** computer I didn’t even want one in the g****** house. See all the problems they cause?"
"Are you happy? Huh? Disobeying your family? See what it’ll do?"
"Put my [muffled]. I oughtta just keep beatin you, and beatin you."
The man is court-at-law judge William Adams -- who deals mainly with family cases. HLN’s Vinnie Politan -- a former attorney himself -- offers this analysis...
“I mean, this is something that I think, whether or not you believe in this sort of punishment for your children, whether it’s appropriate to do to your own child, do you want that man making decisions about your family?”
The video also features the daughter’s mother taking part in the beating. But a written accompaniment to the video -- purportedly penned by the daughter -- asks viewers not to blame the mother, who’s also allegedly a victim of domestic abuse. NBC’s Today Show nabbed an exclusive interview with the Hillary and Hallie Adams -- who initially dodged the question.
LAUER: “How does a mother, not only stand by and watch her husband do that to her daughter, but take part in it?”
HALLIE: “That’s a good question and that’s why I had to ask myself.”
LAUER: “But still that doesn’t tell me why you participated and watched it.”
HALLIE: “I was completely brainwashed and controlled, I did every single thing he did.”
After initially keeping mum, Judge Adams spoke out on the video to local CBS-Affiliate KZTV...
ADAMS: “Yeah that’s me, I lost my temper, I spanked her, her mother was there, she wasn’t hurt, it was a long time ago.”
FLASH
ADAMS: “It looks worse than it is, there is a story, it’ll come out in due time.”
REPORTER: “So you do acknowledge that’s you in the video.”
ADAMS: “Yeah, absolutely, that’s me.”
There’s still no word as to what that other story is -- some media outlets speculate the daughter might have been downloading illegal games. The Los Angeles Times notes -- though it might be difficult to see -- there are two sides to this story...
“Is this video a daughter's revenge on an overly strict and abusive father? Or a misleading glimpse of a Texas judge punishing his daughter for illegally downloading games and music against his orders?”
In a press release Aransas County has confirmed Judge Adams faces a police investigation and a judicial probe.
