Food comes in various shapes and sizes but one Utah man, Andy Ray Harris, took it a step further. His chosen meal -- a live -- baby rat. MSNBC explains.

“The graphic video, which shows Harris dropping a live 2- to 3-inch hairless baby rat in his mouth and chewing dramatically while he's cheered on by others, is pretty much all the indication you — or the court — needs.”

When the video surfaced on Facebook an anonymous person sent the video on to PETA -- who in turn -- sent it to authorities -- who then charged Harris with animal cruelty.

The alleged incident happened in a local tattoo parlor, which was how authorities were able track the man down. But ultimately -- the judge dismissed the charges. So why did he do it? The Salt Lake Tribune has an insight.

“Harris told police he ate the rat ‘on a dare from his friends.’ … His council adding … ‘since this rat was destined to be eaten by a snake anyway, it made no difference’ that he ate it.”

The Daily Mail reports, the judge dismissed the charges...

“...declaring that rats were not a protected species.”
