From wingman to bagman.

 

Tiger Woods' new caddie is an old friend. 

 

It's a temporary arrangement that has analysts scratching their heads. 

 

 

Rick Reilly: “Wait a minute: this is Tiger's new caddie? Bryon Bell? No wonder he's a temp!”

 

After the golfer's whirlwind fall from No. 1, a familiar face on the course might be just what Tiger needs. So what's the problem? The New York Post explains..

 

"Well, it would have been a sound idea if Bell had not been implicated by at least three of Woods' alleged mistresses as an accomplice in his dalliances."

 

 

 

As media outlets decry the potential PR gaffe, Woods himself points out this isn't a career move, just a stop-gap. 

 

"Bryon and I are very comfortable out there on the golf course, and I don't have a permanent caddie. Bryon's obviously just an interim, and we'll see going forward."

 

Who caddies for Tiger next is anyone's guess, and now Vegas oddsmakers have picked favorites.  According to the New York Daily News,

 

"The best bet among those posted with odds is Tony Navarro at 6/1. He’s already said he ‘would take that call’ if Woods made it, presumably leaving Angel Cabrera in a wink.  Next is another longshot, Billy Foster, who has caddied for Woods at the Presidents Cup at 8/1."

 

Woods and Bell have teamed up six times before, and Tiger won the '99 Buick Invitation with Bell on the bag. They'll try to rekindle that magic at Firestone.
