Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries, Katy Perry-Russel Brand, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant... it seems like everyone is heading to Splitsville... including a 99-year-old Italian man and his wife.

The Telegraph reports he filed for divorce after he found letters showing she had an affair -- 60 years ago.

“The Italian man, identified by lawyers in the case only as Antonio C, was rifling through an old chest of drawers when he made the discovery a few days before Christmas…he was so upset that he immediately confronted his wife of 77 years, named as Rosa C, and demanded a divorce.”

After eight decades of marriage, the couple have five children, a dozen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The New York Daily News reports that despite the longevity -- the marriage was not without its problems.

“The uncovering of the letters inside an old chest of drawers was the final straw for a relationship that had already been rocky: 10 years ago, the husband moved out to live with one of the sons, but returned weeks later.”

Antonio’s lawyer explains to the Daily Mail what everyone wants to know -- why split after such a long time?

“‘He felt betrayed and unable to carry on with the marriage which has lasted 77 years … It made no difference that the letters were written more than 60 years ago and the relationship has been over for decades.’”

The divorce papers have been filed and the first hearing is scheduled for March. If they do split up, Antonio and Rosa will be the oldest divorcees in the world. Digital Journal compares this world record to-- a happier one.

“This latest love split is in direct contrast to Indian widower Hazi Abdu Noor, whom …tied the knot this October at the grand old age of 120. The aged widower took a bride just half age.”
