Move over Joe.

And Hillary, come on down.

That’s the sentiment of the majority of Americans when asked, who they’d prefer on the 2012 Democratic ticket alongside Barack Obama.

The poll -- conducted by CBS News and Vanity Fair Magazine asks, if Joe Biden were not to be Obama’s running mate, who should be? An overwhelming majority chose the current Secretary of State, former First Lady and New York Senator.

Now, before the discussion goes any further, it should be noted, Mrs. Clinton has expressed zero interest in the VP post. Way back in March, she told CNN, it’s not in the cards.

ANCHOR: “If the president is re-elected, would you like to serve a second term as secretary of state?  No.  Would you like to serve as secretary of defense.
CLINTON: No.
ANCHOR: Would you like to be Vice President of the United States?
CLINTON: No.
ANCHOR: Would you like to be President of the United States.
CLINTON: No.”

Seems pretty definitive. So why does the question keep coming up? ABC News notes, hardly any politician on either side of the aisle seems to be able to say what Hillary Clinton can and can’t do.

“Clinton has remained a highly popular figure with voters, insulated from the political fallout over the lagging economy in her role as secretary of state.  A recent Gallup poll found 66 percent of Americans had a favorable opinion of her, compared with 46 percent for Biden.”

And the numbers for Congress and the President are considerably lower than that.
A self-proclaimed Democrat writing for an Irish publication begs President Obama to pick Clinton and dump Biden.

“Hillary Clinton appeals to Reagan Democrats and to Middle America. Hillary Clinton has an incredible breadth of experience.  Her approval ratings are sky high and she is a credible, highly regarded figure around the globe."

Everyone from the Atlantic Wire to TIME to MSNBC’s Morning Joe -- are all jumping on the Hillary bandwagon in one way or another.

But CBS News notes, this isn’t likely to happen. Ever.

“So they would be asking Mrs. Clinton to give up a job of exciting/grueling travel and experiences for which she is widely praised, in return for a job as second string ribbon cutter and worse, president of a do-nothing Senate. The odds are that Joe and Hilary won't be starring in a remake of "Trading Places" anytime soon.”
