The Associated Press is reporting at least 27 people, including 18 children, have been killed in a shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.

The shooter is confirmed dead -- a second gunman was reportedly at large, though that is unconfirmed.

WABC has more details on the shooting: “The first 911 call reportedly came in just after 9:40 a.m., stating that multiple students were trapped in a classroom with a gunman, who authorities say was an adult who had at least two guns.”

According to the Hartford Courant, many of the shootings took place in a kindergarten class. Children were evacuated from Sandy Hook Elementary school -- other schools across the district were locked down.

A Hartford Courant reporter tweeted:
“state police source indicates this could be worst school shooting in US history. One whole classroom unaccounted for.”

32 people were killed in the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, currently the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. This is a developing story. Stay with Newsy for more updates.
